Anthony Albanese will move to dump union boss John Setka from the Australian Labor Party following disgraceful comments about Rosie Batty.

The Labor leader has slammed the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) secretary’s behaviour, saying it is “completely unacceptable”.

Setka attacked the Ms Batty, the 2015 Australian of the Year, saying her anti-domestic violence advocacy harms men’s rights.

Mr Albanese held a media conference today, saying he will look to expel Setka at the next party meeting on July 5.

“At the next meeting of the National Executive, I will move for John Setka’s expulsion from the Australian Labor Party.

“John Setka does not belong in our party because of the views that he holds.

“I don’t want him in the same party that I lead. It’s that simple.”

Not content with waiting a month, the new Labor leader has asked the National Executive Committee to immediately suspend his membership.

“From today, it stops.

“John Setka has, on a range of occasions, made comments that I have said are completely unacceptable.”

Mr Setka is currently before the Victorian courts on charges of harassing a woman.
