‘An absolute smack in the face’: Home Affairs Minister blasts Premier’s ‘hypocrisy’

The Home Affairs Minister has slammed Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk for allowing sportspeople to enter Queensland when residents are unable to return.

Hotel quarantine is currently suspended for any interstate hotspot arrivals, including for people who live in Queensland.

Minister Karen Andrews was caught in the fray when she attempted to return to the Gold Coast from Canberra, despite politicians being considered essential workers.

“What we’ve got to deal with is the hypocrisy of the Queensland Premier, where she’s to-ing and fro-ing on a number of issues,” she told Neil Breen.

“The fact that she allowed a plane-load of players to come in from Sydney, which is the hottest of hotspots at the moment, is an absolute smack in the face to all these people who can’t get home.

“It is shameful.”
