The 2022 Samford Show has been cancelled after recent floods left the ground badly damaged.

Justine Barratt, the Samford Show equestrian organiser, told Scott Emerson it was a call they had to make.

“The type of dirt that’s there – once it’s sodden, it just stays sodden for a long time,” she said on 4BC Drive.

“If we were in the peak of summer maybe we would have a chance to be okay, but we’re not.

“And predicted weather coming forward is going to show that’s not going to change.”

However there’s still hope that the show could be rescheduled for later in the year.

“That’s what we’re looking into at the moment,” Ms Barrett said.

“We are looking at possibly doing something once the ground is dried up and we’ve got it together.”
