A new report has revealed 65,000 aged care workers are leaving the profession each year.

The Ceda report estimates the sector is facing a shortage of 35,000 workers, and 43,000 more are required.

Newly appointed Aged Care Minister Anika Wells said it’s a huge and complex problem.

She said one solution is to bring aged care workers back to the industry.

“We have the nurses union telling us … there are nurses that have left the sector, they’ve gone to places lie the NDIS or other parts of the care economy where they get paid better and they get valued better,” she told Peter Fegan on 4BC Drive.
