Brisbane Lions captain Dayne Zorko says players will adapt to the rule changes in 2022, including umpires being less lenient with players holding the ball.

The Lions will take on Port Adelaide this weekend at home.

“We’ve had the 12 weeks of preparations where we’ve tried to fine-tune those rule changes and it’s not too dissimilar to what it was last year,” Zorko said on Wide World of Sports.

“The holding the ball one is always going to be the one that everyone talks about, but for us nothing really changes.

“I think we need to be more disciplined in the free kick area and the way we talk to umpires and the way we approach those situations, the umpires do a fantastic job and we probably haven’t been the greatest towards them over the past few years, so we need to let that stuff slide it only holds up the game.”
