Acting PM confident renewables will impact power prices

neil breen

Acting Prime Minister Richard Marles says the federal government intends to integrate more renewable energy sources into the electricity grid, which would bring down power prices.

The new Labor government’s climate change bill passed in the House of Representatives.

Their climate policy goal is to slash emissions by 43 per cent by 2030.

Mr Marles said it was in part about upgrading the grid to take more renewable energy.

“We see this as a floor, not a ceiling, and we are very confident we will get there and it’s a matter of law that we do,” he told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live.

He said corporate Australia was “crying out” for the policy.

“The way we are going to get power prices down in Australia is to have more renewable energy in the grid, and what’s what we intend to do.”
