Country music legend Lee Kernaghan says that next year’s CMC Rocks music festival will be “a knockout experience.”

The festival will feature 30 of the biggest names in country music from Australia and the US.

Lee Kernaghan is enthusiastic about taking to the stage next March, and shared his love for the festival with John Stanley.

He says it will feature “some of the absolute best artists in the world, and the best production that you’ve seen anywhere on the planet.”

“That’s why it sells out, 20,000 tickets in a day.”

In addition to hugely popular headline acts like Miranda Lambert, Lee says there are many breakout artists to look forward to, including Seaforth, an Australian band named after the Sydney suburb they hail from.

“These two Australian boys are headed for the very top of the tree in American country music,” says Lee.

The country music genre has grown in popularity in recent years, in part due to its increasing diversity. Lee says “the lines are blurred between what’s country and what’s not.”

“It’s almost becoming difficult to pigeonhole it,” John added.

Lee says he is most looking forward to performing his tribute to Slim Dusty, ‘Flying With The King’. When performing the song in the past, Lee’s audience has lifted lights in the air to honour the fallen icon.

“It’s something that stays in your mind, and lives with you forever.”

CMC Rocks will be held over three days in March 2020 at Willowbank Raceway in Ipswich.
