The ARL Commission has big plans for the future of the NRL, reportedly eyeing the addition of another three clubs. 

The $400 million plan would see the code expanded to 20 teams in a matter of years.

Wide World of Sports host Peter Psaltis told Laurel, Gary & Mark expansion would’ve been on the agenda for some time.

“I don’t think you can have uneven teams for too long,” he said. “Byes frustrate fans. You look forward to the footy on the weekend but your team’s not playing.

“I’m pretty certain we’ll get an 18th team by the time we get to 2025 and by ’27, ’28, judging by what we’ve heard over the weekend, I think we’ll be into 20 teams.”
