‘A catastrophic episode’: Qantas CEO to apologise to workers illegally sacked

Article image for ‘A catastrophic episode’: Qantas CEO to apologise to workers illegally sacked

Qantas CEO Vanessa Hudson is apologising to 1700 staff following their illegal sacking during COVID-19.

Michael Kaine, National Secretary of the Transport Workers Union, told Peter Fegan on 4BC Drive, “…This is not some administrative slap on the wrist, this is the largest case of illegal sackings in Australian corporate history…

“This is a catastrophic episode in Australian history and we can’t let it pass without reform…we need to rip out of the hands of profit making aviation CEO’s decision making and ensure we have an independent decision making body that can take hold of this and make sense of it for the community,” Mr. Kaine continued.
