Five climate activists have blocked peak hour traffic in Brisbane’s CBD, once again calling for action on climate change.

The Extinction Rebellion protesters chained themselves to temporary fencing on the corner of Creek and Eagle Streets.

This time they’ve chained their necks to barricades making it very difficult for police to cut them free.

Officers eventually covered the protester’s heads with sheeting, as they use heavy machinery to cut the locking devices.

Serial activist Eric ‘Serge’ Herbet proudly boasted about the strategy, where activists also used super glue.

Queensland Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington tells Ray Hadley the government needs to “crackdown” on this kind of behaviour.

“We’ve got heaps of coppers trying to remove these selfish protesters.

“They really do nothing for their cause… it’s just such a shame and that’s exactly why we need to come down tough on the protesters.”
