A father has saved his son from being taken by a dingo while they were camping at Fraser Island.

The dingo entered the camper van while the family was sleeping on Thursday night and grabbed the toddler by the neck, dragging him towards the bush.

The 14-month-old boy’s cries woke his parents.

His father fought the dingo off and managed to rescue his son, who had been dragged away from the van.

The toddler is in hospital in a stable condition with cuts to his neck.
