Why the Latest US-Iran peace deal leaves the world’s biggest nuclear questions unanswered
The United States and Iran have reportedly agreed to a 60-day interim peace deal, mediated by Pakistan, Turkey, and Qatar, which aims to lift the US naval blockade and reopen the Strait of Hormuz for oil and fertiliser shipments.
However, despite President Trump celebrating the deal, security expert Neil Fergus joined Jason Matthews on 4BC Mornings to warn that it fails to address critical long-term issues, including Iran’s nuclear enrichment, ballistic missile programs, and ongoing regional proxy conflicts.
