Greens co-founder kicked from party over ‘transphobic’ comments

Queensland Greens co-founder Drew Hutton has been officially expelled from the party. The decision reflects their stance that trans rights are non-negotiable human rights.

Hutton told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, “I spent a good deal of my time in the 70s and 80s fighting for free speech in Queensland. And now I find that after fighting a right-wing government that wanted to curtail free speech, I’m now fighting my own party on exactly the same issue.”

“Unless you’ve got a tertiary education degree, unless you live in the inner city and you’re young and you’ve got pink hair, they won’t talk to you.” Hutton continued.
