Academic hits out against the US as they argue Iran posed ‘no’ imminent threat
An academic has hit out against the surprise US strikes on nuclear sites in Iran over the weekend.
Professor of international relations at RMIT University, Dr Aiden Warren, says he’s concerned by the invasion of a sovereign state, which he argues didn’t pose an imminent threat.
“They were a far way off from having the appropriate delivery systems to even get into that nuclear level, and it’s kind of in stark contrast to the fact that Israel has nuclear weapons and is not part of the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) treaty,” he told Bill McDonald.
“I don’t think it’s a great idea when countries can just invade other countries just because they think something is developing, or a potential imminent threat, which I don’t think it is,” he added.
