Former politician Clive Berghofer AO has been made an Officer of the Order of Australia during this year’s King’s Birthday celebrations for his philanthropy and development of Toowoomba.

He’s told 4BC Drive he’s been left surprised by the honour.

“To go to an AO has been quite a thrill … Some people they say people with money are capitalists, they’re stuck up … I’m certainly not stuck up,” he said.
