Sofie Formica

An unusually long fuel cycle is being blamed for consistently high petrol prices in Brisbane.

RACQ’s economist and affordability specialist, Dr Ian Jeffreys, says there are a couple of factors for the extended cycle.

Afternoons host, Sofie Formica, criticised fuel companies for keeping prices high after oil prices fell.

“The cost of petroleum plunged to four-year lows, and yet motorists are seeing little relief at the petrol pump, despite the fact that we’ve had months of depressed crude prices,” she said.
