Gerard Rennick warns Coalition split will ‘take the heat off Anthony Albanese’

The Coalition split has sent shockwaves through politics in Australia.

Senator Gerard Rennick was elected as a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland and sat with the Liberal Party in parliament until resigning from the party in August 2024 to form the People First Party.

Seantor Rennick told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, “I don’t see it playing out very well, actually, for a number of reasons.”

“The Liberals and Nationals are still working together at the state level, both in Queensland and in New South Wales, so it’s going to be very difficult to have a proper split if the state parties are still joined at the hip.”
