Surf Life Saving Queensland is urging beachgoers to swim between the flags at monitored beaches.

Regional operations manager at the Gold Coast SLSQ Nathan Fife says they believe they carried out more rescues this year.

“[It was a ] very busy year for our lifesavers, with weather, with Christmas time, very busy with a lot of people on the beaches,” he said.
