Warren Mundine has accused the “woke left” of attempting to divide Australia by taking over Welcome to Country speeches.

He told 4BC Drive it was a good idea, but it is becoming overdone and ridiculous.

“It’s also lessening what the meaning is about – you use it like in a formal occasion, like a citizenship program or an international rotary program,” he said.

He also criticised the presence of the Welcome to Country at events like Anzac Day.

“Anzac Day is an Australian sacred ceremony for all Australians … we shouldn’t be focusing on dividing this country,” he added.
