On the show today: Gardening Hour sees Arno King and Olympia discuss getting your garden ready for the year ahead. Arno provides tips on pruning, trimming and composting to keep your garden strong and healthy. Arno also answers your questions about pink flowers on a Hibiscus ‘Swan Lake’, treating a Macadamia Nut Tree, and pruning a Geisha Girl plant effectively. PLUS Arno introduces his plant of the day: the humble Asparagus (Asparagus Officinalis) – of course great for cooking, but this veg also holds some other interesting historical applications.

In the second hour; a group of residents on Brisbane’s outskirts who have recently launched legal action against the state government. The Stop The Toxic Fire Ant Program Group are concerned over  the government’s fire ant poisoning program –  citing potential harm to domestic pets and calling for a proper impact study to be conducted. Olympia chats with group member Sarah McGuire who tells us more about the deaths of domestic pets relating to this action and other impacts on local flora and fauna.

Olympia also chats with HOTA Executive Chef, Dayan Hartill-Law, who tells us more about their art inspired menu with locally-sourced ingredients.
