Post-Referendum: Preparing elderly voters amid allegations of influence


With the Referendum in the past, the focus turns to preparing the elderly community for next year’s local and state government elections.

Last week 4BC Drive aired allegations of aged care staffers coercing residents living with dementia into lodging a ‘Yes’ vote after they became confused by the ballot. 

CEO of Dementia Australia, Maree McCabe joined Peter Gleeson on Drive to discuss how to approach voting with those who are living with dementia.

“…Unfortunately it’s not cut and dried and it is something that people struggle with frequently and it is something that is really important to talk to the person living with dementia…” Ms. McCabe explained.
