The Federal Budget will be announced shortly, but Neil Breen suspects it’ll have some surprises.

Senior economist at AMP Capital, Diana Mousina, joined Neil Breen on Brisbane Live to discuss the soon-to-be-announced Federal Budget.

Ms Mousina said we’ll see a surplus for the 2022-23 financial year because the economy’s been so strong, but we shouldn’t expect that to be repeated.

Ms Mousina added that because we’ve had such large budget deficits, we’ll have to see some budget repair in the next few years, but it’s likely the government will not address that in tonight’s announcement.

Plus, given the budget leaks we’ve seen, Ms Mousina confirmed Neil Breen’s suspicions saying “there will definitely be some surprise in there”.
