EXPLAINED | Why the Liberal Party is opposing the Voice

The Fairfax MP has broken down the Liberal Party’s stance on the Voice to Parliament debate after his party yesterday resolved to oppose the proposed advisory body.

Ted O’Brien told Neil Breen the Voice won’t make a difference in remote Indigenous communities.

“I haven’t spoken to one Australian who doesn’t want our first people’s lives to be improved,” he said.

“Australians are people of goodwill. Why can’t we focus on that as a nation?”
