Woman allegedly uses dead Sea World pilot’s name to dodge fine
A woman caught using her phone while driving allegedly tried to dodge the fine by nominating the pilot who died in the Sea World helicopter crash.
The 33-year-old woman, who is now facing two fraud charges, told police she did it because she had previously received a fine and didn’t want to lose her licence.
Today reporter Andrea Crothers told 4BC Breakfast the Park Ridge woman used details found in Ash Jenkinson’s obituary.
“Jenkinson’s widow received an infringement notice, she contacted authorities, saying, ‘Look, he was not behind the wheel of this particular vehicle’,” Andrea said.
“The police then tracked down that Park Ridge woman again and they’ve charged her with two fraud offences. She’ll appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court next week.”
