‘We deserve better’: Sofie slams MPs told to apologise after injuring staff

Sofie Formica

A group of Coalition MPs have been ordered to apologise after barging through the doors of the House of Representatives and injuring an attendant.

The staff member’s arm was injured in the scuffle, where she was pushed against a door as the politicians attempted to leave the chamber during a division last night.

The rush occurred during a second reading of the social security amendment bill, which was successfully passed by the house.

Speaker of the house Milton Dick this morning reprimanded the members involved in the incident, which included Angus Taylor and Dan Tehan.

“It gives us a tiny window, just a little glimpse into the way they behave while representing each and every one of us,” Sofie Formica said.

“I for one, I don’t know how you feel about it, I think we all deserve better across the board.”
