The captain of the Lions has reflected on his team’s Round 1 thrashing, admitting the effort “just wasn’t there”. 

Brisbane was flattened by Port Adelaide for the season opener, losing by 54 points.

“It was something we haven’t really seen,” Lions captain Dayne Zorko told Laurel, Gary & Mark. “That effort and energy just wasn’t there.

“It’s really weird, every player who put on the Brisbane Lions jumper out there said they felt like they just had no energy and felt really lethargic.

“We certainly played that way, so there’s been a heavy emphasis this week on getting back to what we know and our basics.”
