State government to crack down on illegal tobacco sales

Queensland’s smoking laws are set to be tightened as the state government looks to crack down on illegal tobacco sales.

It comes after Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk yesterday revealed a parliamentary inquiry will be held into vaping following reports of primary school-aged children getting their hands on vapes.

Under laws to be introduced to parliament, there will be a crackdown on the sale of illegal cigarettes.

Today reporter Mia Glover told Laurel, Gary & Mark the newsroom has received countless reports of stores selling imported cigarettes for as little as $20 cash.

“Only businesses deemed fit and proper will be allowed to supply tobacco,” she said.

Mick from Sinnamon Park later told Bill McDonald his child’s school has heard numerous reports of vaping but hasn’t done much to stop the habit.
