‘Positive movements’: Leading winemakers look to China as tensions ease
It appears the frosty diplomatic relationship between China and Australia could be thawing, with wine industry leaders set to travel to China later this year for high-stakes talks.
Two years ago China hit Australia with tough trade restrictions in what was a massive blow to local winemakers.
But general manager of Brisbane’s Sirromet Winery, Risko Isic, said the lines of communication are open.
He will travel to Hong Kong in May.
“There is quite lot of positive movements coming from China but just speaking in general, I think the relationship is there the line of communication is open, I think that’s what we want,” he told Neil Breen.
