A murder investigation is underway after a man’s body was found in the backyard of a Gold Coast property.

Police were called to an Ashmore property to conduct a welfare check when officers found the body of the 62-year-old yesterday morning.

A 36-year-old Victorian man was arrested and charged with murder after he was found near the dead man’s vehicle at Molendinar.

“He was allegedly acting quite erratically, wasn’t wearing any pants, just had a t-shirt on, and also was believed to be under the influence of substances,” Today reporter Andrea Crothers told Laurel & Mark.

He’s due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today.
