Bull shark frenzy spotted near Howard Smith Wharves
First it was a pod of dolphins, now a shiver of sharks has been spotted in the Brisbane River.
Brisbane local Paulo Baleeiro spotted around 20 bull sharks not far from the Howard Smith Wharves precinct.

Speaking with Sofie Formica, Queensland Museum ichthyologist Jeff Johnson told Sofie Formica the extra shark activity is a sign of the river’s ecosystem improving.
“There’s lots of food source in the river, in terms of mullet, and bony bream, and eels, and so on,” he said.
“The reason why the sharks are there is because the environment’s steadily, over the years, becoming better and better.
“There’s less pollution in it, there’s no dredging for gravel and so on like there used to be and the sharks are voting with their feet!”
