‘Battle of egos’: Pay dispute drags on as NRL season nears

wide world of sports

Peter Psaltis says the ongoing stoush between the NRL and the Rugby League Players Association over player pay and conditions has become a contest of egos.

The 4BC Wide World of Sports host says it is getting ridiculous, as the protracted discussions between the league and RLPA drag on leading into the 2023 season.

“The NRL season is a month away … and we still do not have the Collective Bargaining Agreement and everything else that is up in the air settled between the NRL and the players association,” he said.

He said he doesn’t want anymore clouds hanging over the season.

“I think that this has not just been an issue about getting the numbers right, this is now a debate to see who has got the biggest ego.

“It’s a battle of egos.”
