Producers are free to export their honey under the globally recognised “Manuka” name after their trans-Tasman rivals withdrew from a trademark dispute in the UK and EU.

New Zealand producers have been attempting to block their Australian counterparts from using the term in overseas markets since 2016 – arguing it’s a Maori word.

But they’ve backed down on legal claims.
