WATCH | Woman kicks robot dog on Valley ‘training mission’ in head

luke bradnam

He may be a robot designed to do what humans can’t, but when Stampy was taken into the Valley on a Saturday night, he was no match for one woman’s foot.

Mark Trueno, Stampy’s owner, had taken the robot on a “training mission” in Fortitude Valley streets but didn’t get far before the robot was taken out of action.

“It was actually literally within about 50, 60 metres of him being deployed,” Mr Trueno told Luke Bradnam on 4BC Summer Breakfast.

“The bloke knelt down, ready to give Stampy a pat, and the girl made a beeline toward him and kicked him square in the face.”

Stampy was meant to be learning how to respond to unexpected objects and staying out of people’s way with a view to one day being deployed on military or mining missions.

“The robot dog is not really designed as a toy, he’s more for applications, say, search and rescue, to traverse terrains that would otherwise be too difficult and too dangerous for a person.”
