Boy wakes from coma after horror Sea World chopper crash

Greg Cary

A young boy who was critically injured when two helicopters collided on the Gold Coast has woken from a coma.

Leon de Silva has spent the last three days fighting for his life at Brisbane Children’s Hospital.

His step-father Neil de Silva has confirmed he is now out of a coma and in a stable condition.

Leon’s mother, Winnie de Silva, remains at the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries, including two broken legs.

She and Leon were among only three survivors from their helicopter.

It’s believed the other survivor, 10-year-old Nicholas Tadros, remains in a coma.

He lost his mother in the incident.
