Qlders ‘kept in the dark’ over hospitals’ low performance ratings, LNP says

Almost one in five of the state’s hospital and health services have scored the lowest possible performance rating by the health department.
The data, which was released after the LNP asked the Health Minister a question on notice in early November, reveals more than half the hospitals need extra support.
The three-tiered performance system grades hospitals as ‘performing’, ‘performance support’ or ‘intensive performance support’.
Speaking with Peter Fegan on 4BC Summer Mornings Deputy Opposition Leader Jarrod Bleijie blasted the state government for not sharing the data until questioned.
“We’re getting all this info from questions on notice we’re asking in parliament,” he said.
“Queenslanders are being kept in the dark and Queenslanders will be paying for this infrastructure.”

AMA Queensland president Maria Boulton said the ratings didn’t come as a surprise.
“We know that we’re in urgent need of more funding, both from the state and the Commonwealth,” she told Peter Fegan.
“We know that we need more strong and effective leadership and we also know that we need to change things around and innovate.”
