Two fruit fly detector dogs, Max and Rylee, are being put to work in South Australia to keep the pest from entering the state.

The pair have been re-trained to stop and drop when they detect fruit fly larvae scent.

They’ve made their first discovery in a known outbreak area in the last week.

Rural Reporter Brady Evans has caught up with Fruit Fly Response Program General Manager Nick Secomb to learn more about the trial.
