Mark Bailey’s ‘easy-peasy’ vision for Qld’s public transport system

More commuters will be able to ditch their Go Cards as the Smart Ticketing system is expanded to another two train lines.

Adult full-fare customers on the Doomben and Shorncliffe lines  can now use their credit card, debit card, smartphone or smartwatch to pay for their trips.

More than 2 million fares have been paid with Smart Ticketing since the trial began on Gold Coast trams almost two years ago.

Transport Minister Mark Bailey told 4BC Breakfast eventually, the state’s entire public transport system will be added to the system.

“When we finish this program towards the end of next year, when all the buses and ferries come on, you’ll be able to use the same system in Cairns, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, wherever you go.

“And for tourists, of course, it’s just going to be fantastic: one payment system; easy-peasy.”
