An hours-long stand-off in Kangaroo Point overnight has ended with one man in police custody.

Officers were called to a property on River Terrace at 8.30pm to carry out a welfare check on an occupant.

It’s alleged he was in possession of a replica firearm when police began negotiations.

Residents were told to remain indoors as River Terrace, Llewellyn Street, Main Street and Bell Street were closed to traffic.

He was arrested without incident around 3am.
