How renters will benefit from Queensland law reforms

Carla Bignasca

It will soon be easier to rent with pets in Queensland as new reforms come into effect in the coming days.

Landlords will need to give tenants a reason for rejecting pet applications from this Saturday, October 1.

First National Real Estate CEO Ray Ellis told Sofie Formica the change will benefit everyone involved.

“A person who rents a house or apartment, it’s their home and if their home’s a better environment with a pet, more power to them because they’ll treat it more like a home.

“It’s actually good news for our industry, good news for our tenants, and landlords will get better tenants as a result of it.”
