Queenslander honoured by invitation to attend Queen’s funeral

neil breen

Queenslander Saba Abraham is among the everyday Australians who will travel with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

Mr Albanese said Buckingham Palace had instructed realm nations to invite 10 citizens who had made contributions to their local communities.

Ms Abraham is a community leader and manager of social enterprise, Mu’ooz Restaurant and Catering.

Earlier this year she was recognised as a Local Hero at the Australian of the Year awards.

Since arriving in Australia as a refugee from Eritrea, she has dedicated her time to supporting other refugees and building multiculturalism more broadly in Australia.

“I couldn’t believe it … I feel really honoured by this invitation.”
