Man taken into custody after Warwick streets shutdown

A man who caused the emergency shutdown of streets in Warwick has been taken into custody.

Police were called to the scene at 9.45am to perform a welfare check on a man.

Upon arrival, negotiations with the individual began, with officers believing him to be armed with a firearm.

He has since been taken into custody without incident.

An exclusion zone set up by police has been revoked, as there is no ongoing threat to the community.

EARLIER 

An area across Tooth Street, Bracker Road, Bisley Street and Cullen Street has been locked down.

Residents must remain indoors until further notice and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
