Dame Emma Thompson is learning a fair bit about Australia as she promotes her new film, Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, down under. 

The British star touched down in Sydney last week, before heading south to Melbourne.

“I’m so thrilled to be here,” she told Sofie Formica.

“I’m in Melbourne at the moment; we had a week in Sydney and as I came through to Melbourne, I started to realise there was a little bit of rivalry.

“I’d say, ‘Oh, I’m off to Melbourne,’ and they’d say ‘Hmm, that’s nice’ but there was definitely a sense [that] they’re rivals, so I’m learning a lot as I go!”
