Wild weather: Drivers urged to plan ahead, steer clear of flooded roads
Parts of south-east Queensland have copped the brunt of significant rainfalls and a man has died after his car was swept away in floodwaters in South Burnett.
Up to 140mm of rain has fallen over the south-east.
On the Sunshine Coast and Sunshine Coast Hinterland, wind gusts of around 130km/h were recorded.
QFES superintendent James Haigh crossed to Peter Fegan from the state operations centre in Kedron, and said in some welcome news, the rain has transitioned largely offshore.
But the Bundaberg/Fraser Coast area is now copping rain.
“The wind is still there and the message is still very much the rain that fell is still flowing downstream, so we really need people to be extremely careful.”
He urged drivers to plan their route rather than “making a decision in the heat of the moment”.
He warned the strong winds were still being felt on the coast.
