Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese start eleventh hour campaign blitzes

Gary Hardgrave

Party leaders are spending their last day of the election campaign in whirlwind visits of marginal seats.

Anthony Albanese is set to defend pushing the budget further into the red as he make a final pitch to voters in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

The Opposition yesterday released its final policy costings, unveiling a $19 billion price tag for its election promises.

It means the budget would cost Australia an extra $8.4 billion over the next four years.

Anthony Albanese argues the extra spending is needed to help rev-up the economy on what he calls “quality” projects.

Meantime, Scott Morrison has flown into Perth overnight to shore up support for the Coalition.

He will again campaign on his economic record after the unemployment rate dropped to 3.9 per cent.
