Why Breenie is tipping controversy will aid outcast Liberal candidate

Neil Breen is tipping the attempts by some Liberal Party members to oust a controversial candidate could backfire.
Katherine Deves, running for the federal seat of Warringah, came under fire after a series of comments about transgender people.
It’s led her colleagues, most notably the NSW Treasurer Matt Kean, to call for her to be dumped by the party.
“I think it will only make her more popular in the electorate,” Neil remarked. “And I think she’ll get more votes.
“Cast your mind back to 1996. Remember the Liberal Party’s candidate out in Ipswich? Her name was Pauline Hanson.
“She railed against Asian immigration, she railed against all sorts of issues.
“The Liberal Party panicked and disendorsed her. What happened? She romped him!”
