A recovery operation to retrieve the bodies of a father and his nine-year-old son is resuming in the NSW Blue Mountains.

A woman and 14-year-old boy were critically injured when the family was crushed during a landslide while hiking.

A 15-year-old girl has escaped serious injury.

Police say the family is from the UK and had been holidaying in Australia.
