‘A few more to go yet’: Construction giant collapse won’t be the last one

Scott Emerson

The collapse of another construction giant has re-ignited fears more could follow.

Queensland company Condev put out a call to developers on Monday to help keep them afloat.

They’ve been forced to appoint a liquidator as market and material costs threaten the company’s bottom line.

Probuild suffered a similar fate in February.

Hutchinson Builders chairman, Scott Hutchinson, told Scott Emerson there are probably a “few more to go” yet, and the industry was seeing a correction.

“There’s been people working for too long, on too small a margins, and these movements that have happened recently will flush that out.”
