Dragons, Eels coaches preview the NRL season ahead

wide world of sports

The NRL is back tonight after a disrupted 2021.

On Wide World of Sports, Peter Psaltis spoke to two coaches ahead of the first game of the season.

Eels coach Brad Arthur says the club finished the season well last year, and the players are looking forward to playing in front of fans after last year.

Addressing the speculation around the Eels breaking their premiership drought, he says the club keeps improving each year.

“I’d much rather be in the conversation, than not be in the conversation,” he said.

“We work really hard throughout the pre-season, the boys are ready to go, they are fit, you need a lot of things to go your way during the season.”

Dragons coach Anthony Griffin says it will be great to be playing again and have the season starting up.

“On paper we are a lot more balanced, and we got a lot more experience there as well, so that’s been a real focus in putting the list together in the last 18 months as well,” he said.

“I don’t think we are quite there yet but we are starting to get a bit more balance and depth.”
