Lord Mayor’s no-show drags The Drift dilemma on

The Drift restaurant dilemma won’t be solved as soon as expected after a meeting to plan its demolition fell through.

After being destroyed during the 2011 floods, the riverside restaurant has served as nothing more than an eyesore for over a decade.

More recently, a raging Brisbane River pushed the wreck onto the Bicentennial Bikeway, forcing attention from the government.

But the local and state governments are yet to agree on which arm is responsible for clearing the remains.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner yesterday told Neil Breen he’d meet with the Transport Minister to finally arrive at a solution.

In a surprising twist in the saga, Transport Minister Mark Bailey today called in to Neil Breen when the Lord Mayor didn’t show.
