Authorities are warning people that today is not the day for cleaning-up, with more severe weather potentially on the way.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said it was “extremely unstable weather conditions”.

All schools will be closed across the south-east tomorrow.

Deputy Commissioner Shane Chelepy said the catchments are absolutely saturated.

He told Scott Emerson everyone wants to get home and start the clean up, but some houses already inundated are at risk of it happening again.

“For the next 48 hours, we just ask everyone to pay real close attention to the Bureau, look at the storm warnings, we are not saying you can’t go to our house if it’s blue skies, but where we are seeing these storm warnings, don’t go back into your house.”

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist James Thompson said there is a chance of storms in the coming days.

“With this humidity around, a summer storm is really a possibility at any stage over the next week or so.”
